MISSION & VISION
The LIT Network is a community organization that empowers young professional women of color to live in their truths and to achieve their full potential through digital storytelling and community events.

Out of all Fortune 500 CEOs, only 1 is a woman of color. LIT is here to change the narrative of women of color. By 2024, women of color will be the majority in the workplace when compared to white women. This is driving the urgency behind our work. Many of us have dreams to be entrepreneurs and leaders in our respective fields but there is no universal platform for all women of color, regardless of industry and race, to come together and support one another.
We want LIT to be that platform. The LIT Network is a community where women of color are accepting of everyone’s journeys no matter how different they are from each other. vision is to live in a world where there are more WOC CEOs, more WOC represented in C-Suites, more WOC managers, and more WOC entrepreneurs.

WHAT DOES LIT STAND FOR?
LIT stands for Live In Truth everything that this network encompasses. We want to make sure that we as women of color are doing the inner work to find what we are truly connected to and then finding a way to live that life despite what anyone thinks. It just so happens that when you combine these words, the acronym is LIT – something that is authentic to us as people of color, vibrant and a real testament to living in our truth which is at the core of the work that we’re doing.
The LIT Network is a community where women of color are accepting of everyone’s journeys no matter how different they are from each other. It is a community where we can lean on each other and go through this journey together because we know it is far from easy.
OUR HISTORY
In February 2017, while working for a local non-profit, we started to have conversations about women of color in the workplace and how we constantly felt like outsiders. We felt as though we could not bring our whole selves to work and felt exhausted to continually put on a façade to please the Eurocentric norms of the workplace.

We noticed disparities amongst those who were front-line and those in management positions. Managers didn’t reflect the demographics we served nor did we have anyone in the executive team who was a person of color. These stark disparities made them question why this was happening and if there was anything out there that addressed this issue.
To our surprise, we did not find any groups that supported young professionals. There were groups that focused on women of color managers and directors but none that focused on women who were 2-3 years out of college.
Therefore, we decided to create The LIT Network in September 2017.
